Thanks to a ‘brilliant’ idea from one of my friends, I too wanted to find out more about CHARLES V! So I set off on a Friday evening to discover what lay behind this royal name.

Before any experience, I had already fallen in love with this destination … the location already: MEURSAULT, BOURGOGNE, … my taste for Burgundy wine … and then Dad was a Chevalier du Tastevin, and wasn’t my little brother Alain born in GEVREY-CHAMBERTIN!

The adventure was off to a good start… By early evening, we were on our way! We’d crossed stretches of vineyards, as well as villages with beautiful, typical houses made of the white stones of Burgundy. And here we were, the beautiful CHARLES V building was waiting for us!

For this building to have a soul, we needed the owners! The first person to greet us was Michel-Henri, a tall, lanky man with a friendly face, who welcomed us and opened the door to his home. Nadia, discreet and smiling, then greeted us and returned to the preparations … after a short presentation of the site, because this beautiful and welcoming house was born under the direction of our hosts; starting almost ruins, they have made a charming house!

Courage and passion are the first words that come to mind … then, still under Michel-Henri’s guidance, we went straight to the sacred place of wine tasting … first the whites with their prestigious names, accompanied by golden, fragrant gougères! then we moved on to the reds! I must admit I have a weakness for the reds (and I don’t spit them out!!!), and here too the prestigious names delighted our palates. Throughout the tasting, Michel-Henri talked to us about wine, vines and his particular passion for Burgundy. And I find in this man, passion, this passion or love, I think it is what characterises this couple. His love for his wife, for the creations they have made together, his love for Burgundy and his love for wine! Passionate people are passionate! (I didn’t write this, but unfortunately I can’t quote the author!)

During our tastings, Michel-Henri takes us to the heart of their speciality: ‘made-to-measure’ wines with great ageing potential. Can you imagine selecting a whole barrel from the appellation of your choice and ageing it in a Wineglobe?

I was an entrepreneur, I’ll always be an entrepreneur, and I’ve decided to embark on a new adventure in ageing wines for great ageing, especially as after a guided tour I now know how it’s done and, above all, I know what a Wineglobe is!

And the little ones, in turn, will be able to enjoy this divine beverage matured in a Wineglobe for a number of years, while savouring the pleasure of having labels bearing their name – the height of chic! (for me, that is).

THANK YOU to this passionate couple for introducing me to a world with which I was unfamiliar, and for letting me into it. I can’t wait to taste Mon Vin next year, in the company of my family and friends, and especially with Michel-Henri and Nadia.
